Forward in Faith A church building was first erected on the present site in 1843. Forty three years later in 1886 reconstruction work was carried out to produce the current building. After over 170 years of faithful service the church building now requires extensive restoration work to be carried out mainly to the roof and stonework. ‘Forward in Faith’ is the name given to this restoration project and the consequent fundraising. The cost of the work, scheduled to start March/April 2011, will be in excess of £460,000.

Grants are being sought from Historic Scotland and some smaller funding bodies. The remainder of the money will come from contributions from members of the congregation and church reserve funds.

Please remember in your prayers this project which seeks to continue to provide a place for the worship of God and place from which the congregation of St John’s can carry out God’s work in its parish, the town of Largs and further afield.
